Paine Earlier Asked Rohit Sharma To Hit A Six If He Wants Him To Be A Fan Of Mumbai Indians
Australian players are expert in sledging. They had a very good record of the sledging, especially in Test matches. India-Australia Test series is going on. On the second day of the Boxing Day Test, when Rohit Sharma was batting, Australia captain Tim Paine comes to him and said something to Rohit Sharma.
Paine moved up to the stumps and said “It would be a toss up for me between the Royals (Rajasthan) and Indians (Mumbai) on who I support. If Rohit hits a six here, I’m changing to Mumbai,”
His words were caught on the mic.
Rohit Sharma smiled on him but later he replied back on Tim Paine with a statement that if Paine scores a hundred then he would say to Mumbai Indian franchise to buy him for the IPL.
“I was hearing that but when I’m batting I just focus on the job at hand. But I had a chat with Ajinkya Rahane and I joked that if he (Paine) gets a hundred here, I will put in a word about him to my boss at Mumbai Indians and we’ll buy him. Looks like he’s a fan of Mumbai.”
– Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma scored 63 in the first innings and India set the total of 443 before the declaration. India bowled Australia out on 151 and get 292 runs lead in the first innings. Indian captain decided to bat again and set the total in 4th innings. At end of the day, India is 54/5 with a lead of 346 runs.
It would be interesting to see how Paine respond on him and will he score a hundred in 4th innings. Australia is behind in this game and looking at the pitch, Australian batsmen will face the problem in the chase. On 3rd day, 15 wickets fell so India are on the driver’s seat.
