Due To Number Of Screens, China Is The Largest Overseas Market For Revenue

China is the biggest market for distributors. This country has a large number of screens compared to any country. For the good revenue of the film, China becomes a new and fresh market for Indian films. Producers are showing faith in China and releasing the film there. Few Bollywood films created a good business there. Few have done record breaking business there like Dangal, Bahubali, Hindi Medium etc. 

Akshay Kumar’s Padman was the last release in China and has done a good business there. Some films were released after getting a big response in India. 

Just take a look top 10 highest grossing Indian films, which made a high business in China. 

  1. Secret Superstar – $27,180,510 (Rs 194.65 crores)

Zaira Wasim who was seen in blockbuster ‘Dangal’ made a lead in Secret Superstar. Amir Khan was the producer of the film and he has done a cameo in the film. The Film got critically admiration in the Indian market. This film was released in China and got the first position with 194 Cr business.  

      2. Hindi Medium – $15,771,827 (112.94 crores)

This film was successful in India. The story was a take on India’s school system which was beautifully directed by Saket Chaudhry. It was the first film of Irrfan Khan which released in China. Irrfan Khan has done Hollywood films but the first time, his Hindi film released there. 

3. Dangal – $12,512,356 (Rs 89.60 crores)

Bollywood’s highest grossing film ‘Dangal’ was admired in China as well. Amir Khan got a critical appreciation for this film. It made almost 400 Cr business in India. It was the highest grossing film in China before releasing Hindi Medium and Secret Superstar. after this film, Amir was admired by fans in China.  

4. Toilet Ek Prem Katha – $9,096,164 (Rs 65.14 crores)

Take on the society where women don’t use toilets at own home and go outside of the house become a hit in China market. It was the first film of Akshay Kumar in China. This film was loved in India. 

5. Bajrangi Bhaijaan – $8,503,621 (Rs 60.89 crores)

Cast: Salaman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Nawazudden Siddqui

6. Bahubali – The Conclusion $7,684,706 (Rs 55.03 crores)

It was the first south Indian film which released in China. Its dubbed Hindi version crossed 500 Cr mark in India. It was a all time blockbuster in India.

Padman was the social cause film which showed beautifully the story about a man who makes sanitary pads for women for safety against mensuration problem. This film created a huge buzz in India with its story. It has done good business in China as well. 

8. PK – $4,654,829 (Rs 33.33 crores)

Cast: Amir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh, Sanjay Dutt

Rajkumar Hirani’s film after blockbuster 3 Idiots was PK and it was also a blockbuster in the Indian market. Amir Khan played an Alien who fights with people’s religion-based issues. The Film showed a good business but failed to make an impact. 

9. Hichki -$4,215,123 (Rs 30.18 crores)

Sultan was the biggest hit of Salman Khan and it showed a very inspiring story of a Wrestler which was beautifully played by Salman Khan. China admired but the film didn’t do a good business.
