Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath has proposed to spend more than Rs 674 crore in the next financial year on maintenance of cow shelters in the state. This is the third budget of the Yogi government after gaining control in March 2017. Is this even appropriate? Well, people surely don’t think so.
The annual budget was handed out by Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal and Rs 247.60 crore were issued for nurturing the cow-shelters in rural areas. Under the ‘Kanha Gaushala and Besahara Pashu Ashram’ scheme, Rs 200 crore was kept aside for the cows.
A major amount of money is always spent on the welfare of cows and their home. The total budgetary allotments are of Rs 4.79 lakh crore which is 12 percent higher than the previous year’s budget.
This allocation received a lot of criticism from the netizens. CM Yogi, as well as his decisions, were trolled badly on social media. He was blamed for ignoring serious state issues like unemployment, women’s safety etc.
